My Little Buddy's First Black Eye

We don't know how it happened (it wasn't us, really), or when exactly it happened but it looks awful. On Sunday (I think) I first noticed a mark on Holden's eyelid and I asked Tony, who was taking care of the brood, "What had happened to Holden's eye?" His reply? "Is there something wrong with it?" LOL I was like, "Um, yeah. There's a big scratch or a mark or something on his eyelid." "Oh." Tony said. "It must have been from one of the falls he took; there have been a few." It continues to look horrid and I am starting to become concerned that he has an ocular tumor or something (you know me...). At least it's not that puffy anymore. And the yellowing, while not exactly his best color, means that it's starting to heal and will soon fade. Poor little guy. He's going to be my typical boy. A scrapper and a fighter and a rough-and-tumble kind of kid. Great. Did I mention that two days ago we found him 3 steps from the top of the stairs? Awesome! We put that new gate up right quick, I tell ya. Jesus Christ are we ever in for it. LOL

  1. I hope he doesn't have any doctor's appointments coming up but if he does...blame it on Gwen when they accuse you of abusing the cutest little boy ever. That poor kid, he is always bruised up.

  2. He sure is. Their 9 month well-visit is on the 10th but I'm not too worried. The Dr. once told me she worries more about the kids when they aren't bumped and bruised up, because they are kids and while they learn that's what happens. If they aren't all bruised they are usually spending too much time in a crib or swing, or even being eld, which can be just as dentrimental to their development, depending on the circumstances.

  3. Hi Mandie,
I LOVE your blog. I hope Holden's black eye is better soon. Your posts are so honest and real and funny - it's great to read what another triplet mom is going through! Thanks from another triplet mom who is hanging out with her 3 kids (usually in dirty pj's) and trying to see the funny side of it - most of the time.

  4. Poor baby boy. My little Frankie just about bit clean through his bottom lip last night. This is only 3 weeks after he fell off the couch and had to go to the ER to have his forehead glued shut. All I could think last night when he bit his lip was "Oh God, don;t let it be bad enough to have to go to the ER, they will think I am beating him." LOL! My doc feels the same way though. If they are never scraped or bruised then they are not being kids, espescially BOYS! They are the worst. LOL!
