Just a Plain Ol' Exhausting Week - Oh, and 3 First Birthdays

ARGH!! My laptop is on the fritz - I need a new motherboard because something happened to where the power cord plugs in and now the stupid thing won't charge. I seriously have to hold the connection in place to get any juice to it, kind of like how you used to have to hold your headphones into your Walkman and bend the cord to hear sound. But at least with the Walkman, once you found the sweet spot you could just tape the hell out of the connection to keep it in place. That's not cutting it with my laptop. Piece of shit. Thank God we got the service plan on it, so Dell will be out to our house at some point to replace it, but in my opinion it couldn't be soon enough. What the fuck am I going to do cut off from the rest of the world for 2, 3, maybe even more (please no, please no, please no...) days??? Spend time with my kids??? LOL, get real!! Seriously, I do spend time with my kids but I need a few personal breaks here and there to reconnect with the rest of humanity and bring myself back down to zero anxiety. And of course, no laptop means no Triplet Connection, no Bump, no blogging, and OMG, dare I say it... NO FACEBOOK!!! EEEEEK!!! Surely, I will shrivel and die.

This past Saturday was the triplets' first birthday party (they turned 1 on February 25th), and it was a lot of fun. They got some cool presents, but we all know the best thing about First Birthday parties is the cake! Here are a few pictures; if you want to see the full day, you can check out the kids' website, though I haven't exactly gotten them up there just yet, LOL

I did the cupcakes myself; my first time working with a pastry bag. Not too shabby, in my opinion! :)

And here are the kids at the table, prior to digging in and while they all had their cute little hats on. That was short lived as Tess grabbed Holden's which broke the elastic string and snapped it back at his cheek. :( L-R are Nora, Holden and Tess ~

Holden ~
The sugar high and clean up crew are about to kick into high gear. So is the bathtub! ~

Today we had them into the pediatrician's office for their 12 month well visit, and they are all doing awesome! Well, besides the 4 shots a piece and blood draws for lead screening and iron stores, ick! And on top of all the icky stuff, our appointment was at 8 o'clock wihich meant their solid feeding was an hour early, they missed their 8 am nap, and we didn't get home until 10:30, so their 10 o'clock bottles were delayed until 11-ish, which threw off their lunch which is usually at 11:30. UGH!!!!! They are doing better now, after a 2 hour nap fest. :) On the other hand, we have big, healthy babies! We got the go-ahead to start Tess and Nora on whole milk, but Holden has to stay on formula until further notice. It seems that while he has grown, he's fallen off is growth curve. Our pedi thinks he is just due for a growth spurt so she wants to have his height and weight checked in 2 months to make sure he's spurted. While we were reviewing his chart it seems that his growth always goes up, then plateaus, then jumps up, then plateaus, and so on, so it is probably just the way he grows and no big deal at all. She thinks the formula will just help give him the extra calories and nutrition he needs to get through the growth spurt easily. She did question both the girls' walking ability, which shocked the shit out of me. I guess Nora arches for balance, which the pedi noted but also said a lot of kids do that until they are seasoned walkers. Tess would only take small shuffle-steps, so the pedi brought her out in the hallway to let her run, but of course she didn't. Grrr... So no biggie there ethier apparently, she just made note of it, said something about Tess' hips. I am hoping neither of these things that seem like drawbacks leave any permanant damage. Here are their stats, for those that are interested:

Tess is 21 lb, 9 oz (57th %) / 2' 6.5" (88th %) / 46 cm head circumfrence (75th %)
Nora is 21 lb, 13 oz (61st %) / 2' 6" (76th %) / 46 cm head circumfrence (75th %)
Holden is 20 lb, 2 oz (12th %) / 2' 4.5" (11th %) / 47 cm head circumfrence (67th %)

Here they are as newborns. Look how much they've grown!!! Go, babies, go!!

Tess (born at 4 pds, 14 oz and 17.9") ~

Nora (born at 5 pds, 8 oz and 18.5") ~
Holden (born at 4 pds, 13 oz and 17.9") ~
And now exactly 1 year later, Tess, Holden and Nora with Momma, all over 20 pds and 28"! That means each of them has tripled their weight and grown 10"! WOW!!! ~

Just for shits & giggles, I thought I'd throw in a couple of other fun pictures. Here I am, as I'm being wheeled back into L&D for recovery from the c-section, pressing the "baby's been born" button. At the hospital where I delivered, Brahm's Lullaby is played whenever a baby is born. I got to press thhe button 3 times, which I thought was so cool, signaling to all the moms who were there having one baby to quit their bitching. I had just had triplets!! LOL
And here it is. The belly pic at 34 weeks, about 4 days or so before delivery. Ugh. I made my mom cut my head off the picture when she took it, I must have been 4 days without a shower, LOL

Tonight I have to go to physical thereapy to work out, and then jet over to psycho therapy at 6:45. Oy vey! Tomorrow I think is actually low-key, but Friday the guy is coming to start installing the new furnace, and we will be without heat. Rad. Better bathe the kids tomorrow, and make sure all the dishes are done, and all take fresh showers ourselves so that we're prepared. Okay, so now tomorrow isn't as low-key as I was hoping. Super!!
So this week has been totally hella busy. And all I want to do is curl up with an afghan, a cup of tea, and book. Or my laptop... sigh.
Much love,

  6. I am a Mom to a 4 1/2 year old, a 2 year old and 5 month old twins. My computer is my lifeline to the outside world and, up until now, I was thinking that I was the only one obsessed with Facebook, Ebay, blogging, email, etc;. My computer crashed a week ago and it took (gasp) 4 days to fix. I was having serious withdrawal symptoms. My husband made me feel like the "worst mom on the face of the earth" because I have so much invested in this stupid PC. Reading about your terrible computer tragedy made me feel a little better. I'm not the only one....phew. Thanks for posting this hilarious story.
