All Alone on a Saturday Night - Well, not really...

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been dying to have a chance to blog again. My God, things have gotten so crazy busy hectic. As the kids get older, they get easier to care for as far as being little dependant leeches, but I am now trying to run around after them all day ending fist fights, toy fights, pushing, cleaning up after them when they paint the floors with milk (they have learned that soft spout sippies + pushing the spout against the floor = painting supplies), chase them off the furniture, the tables, stop them from falling, etc., etc., all while I try to keep some semblance of an orderly household. Boy, oh boy! So when people say, "It gets easier," it really does in some sense. But in my opinion, it doesn't get easier, things just change. I'm sure I've said that all before so I'll get back to my point, which is to not have a point, but more to just talk. Since I'm alone and don't know what to do with myself, LOL...

Anyway, here I am, all alone at home at 9:30 on a Saturday night, in the middle of a late-April heatwave (yes!), which sounds weird even as I say it aloud. It's just starting to cool off now (yay night air!), and the temps today reached 80 degrees, with a good amount of humidity, but must be down to 75 or 70 by now. Poor Gwen's attic bedroom is roasting, at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, and she is restless in her sleep; talking, crying, calling out for me, for milk, and to get down. I just went up to check on her and open her window (she was adamant that I leave it closed when she went to bed so I wanted to go up and open it after she fell asleep anyway). She is fine, still asleep, but sweaty and restless. Poor kid!

I ordered some of the delish chicken tenders from the local joint downtown, only to find that I was down to $3 in my wallet. Ouch... I rummaged around in the bedroom and in the change sorter and found an extra $13.50 - score! So I enjoyed me some chicken tenders, french fries, 2 Blue Moon Belgian White beers and a good show from the white trash across the street. They've since quieted down. Boo. Nothing's on TV and I'm too buzzed to read my book so here I sit, rambling, and promising myself that even if this is the worst post ever in the history of Blogger that I'll publish it as soon as Tony pulls up. I think it'll be funny to re-read it tomorrow.

We took the kids out grocery shopping today. All 4 of them. I would never do that by myself; I usually go alone - my weekend outing to regroup (who finds solace at the grocery store, btw??? That sounds ridiculous! OMG, I AM turning into my MOTHER!!!!! LMAO!), but Tony came with, and we tried out a new store. A cheaper store. A smellier store. A smaller store that has no organic anything. Market Basket is a chain found in the Northeast, and particularly in MA and NH, and maybe NJ or something??? I like to call it Trash Basket. I hate shopping there with all the smelly people, the store stinks, and it's like a hundred years old and the isles are tiny and everything is in a weird location (for instance, instant stuffing is on a shelf over the fresh meats). Tony used to work there in high school though, so I figured having him around would help to guide me and we even went 20 minutes past the closest Trash Basket to go to the newest store so it wouldn't smell so bad. I don't think the amount we spent for the amount of food we got warranted a special trip, that's for sure. BUT, the kids had fun getting out and seeing actual human beings that they're not from the loins of, so it was a good day all in all.

I'm tired now; my eyes are droopy and my head is bobbing. Gwen is still sobbing off and on, which is bothering the hell out of me, but I called Tony and he's about 10 minutes away so maybe he will have some better ideas to make her more comfortable. On the phone he mentioned a fan and I just can't see leaving a fan with spinning blades in her room at a height that she can reach. Does that seem silly to anyone else? Hehehe. He thought so too. : D

I gotta finish my beer and get ready for bed. It was a long, hot day, and tomorrow's going to be even warmer. At least we'll be home to let the kids play outside all day. I'll have to dig out the sunscreen.

Tony's home. And a breeze is finally picking up. Wahoo!!

  1. Yippee for a new post from Mandie! I'm with ya - I find a trip to the grocery store by myself to be relaxing. How pathetic!

  4. I always laugh when people ask me if it's getting any easier. I just pause and say "well, let's just say it's not necessarily easier....it's just different". No stage is without it's challenges I'm finding out!!

I'm visiting you from MoM's...I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts!
