The Bearded Lady Is Preggers Again...

I have to say that I am SOOO sick of this pregnant "man". Not that I don't think same-sex or transgender couples deserve to have their own children and raise them in their family unit, that's not it at all; they are couples in love ready to move onto the next phase of their life together, just like any hetero couple. However, I think this Thomas Beatie is as much a glory-hog, money grubbing freak as Jenny McCarthy. I watched Barbara Wah-wah's special on ABC last night because I am that person rubber-necking at car accidents. I wanted to see what he had to say for himself and his 15-minutes of fame. And because it pisses me off that the media bills him as a pregnant "man" (or maybe he coined the term himself), if only to draw more attention to his situation. HE IS NOT A MAN!!!!! He still has ALL his female reproductive organs. I understand that in his mind he is a man; that he sees himself as masculine. That's not my problem. My problem is that everyone is throwing around this term "pregnant man" to draw more attention to the Beatie's situation and to sell more of their magazines. If they want to use the masculine term "man", they should use quotes around it. Here's where the glory hog in him takes over: "he" is pregnant again. And he was inseminated and conceived before his interview with Barbara so that he could ride the fame wave for another year or so. Their baby is beautiful, chubby, and happy, and maybe he was one of those people who loved being pregnant, like I did (and isn't that more a maternal attribute??) or maybe they wanted to have their children close in age (more power to 'em...). But I am thinking they love the fame. They sell their family pictures to just about anyone who asks and while Barbara stated that the Beaties were not being paid for her interview, the opportunity to announce their new pregnancy to a big-name national television personality like Barbara Walters is invaluable. My rant has nothing to do with the social definitions of "mother" or "father" or "man" or "woman" but rather the scientific definition that Thomas Beatie was born a woman, with all her mysterious lady parts, and female reproductive organs. So, scientifically speaking, Thomas Beatie is not a man and should stop tossing around these scientific definitions as if they are no big deal on a social level but make all the difference when it comes to making a little green. God!
