Shoppin' With Mom!

Tony's birthday is tomorrow, so in an effort to be more prepared than I was for Father's Day, I went out shopping. I took Gwen and Holden with me, and thought we'd have a fun time just the three of us. Plus, I'm trying to get more acclimated to going out with the children on my own, even though I LOVE my alone time when I get to go myself. But, I haven't taken them with me in a while, and knew that Tess and Nora would have fun spending some time alone with Daddy, and it would allieviate some of the work Tony would have to do while home with the kids a day before his birthday. See? I still try to be nice! LOL

After lunch and showers, we loaded up and headed to Old Navy. Tony had requested shorts for his birthday, and I let Gwen and Holden help me choose which ones to get. They were having a great 30% off sale, but pickin's were slim where they are running THAT sale, PLUS the week before they had $15 cargo shorts. Fuck. Oh well. I hope he likes what he ended up with and I hope I got the right size. LOL We took the Choo Choo wagon into the mall, which is WAAAAYYYY easier to pull without the extra 85 pounds the other two trailers and kids add. LOL We were in and out and I didn't even stop at Lane Bryant!! :-D I'm on a strict no spending limitation, you'll remember...

Next up was the grocery store. I hit up Shaw's thinking they'd be my last stop so I bought Hoodsie cups and snacks and water for the beach, plus a bunch of other frozen stuff that I thought would survive in the car on the ride home. It was hot today but I was running the AC so I didn't think it would be THAT bad. But I had a few necessary items on my list that Shaw's didn't have so I was screwed into going to Wal-Mart, on race weekend no less. God damn it.

I ran to the car wash up the street because my car was DIS-GUS-TING!!! All yellow with pollen and spots where the old rain had dried up and dirt and shit everywhere. I can't remember the last time I had it washed and I thought the kids would think it was way fun. Gwen LOVES the car wash, and I thought Mr. Mechanical Holden would too, but I was completely wrong. Not even close. The kid FREAKED OUT as soon as the guys started pre-washing the car with the power washer hoses and he cried adn yelled the ENTIRE time. "Nooo nooo car!" I, of course, laughed my ass off and took a video on my phone. Now that I watch it after the fact I can definately see how all the flashing lights and thumping washer strips could be intimidating. Oops. oh well. LOL He lived, and Gwen talked him through it and as soon as he could see the light of day he relaxed about 70%. Funny stuff.

At Wal-Mart I couldn't find a good carriage so I had to put Holden in the baby seat and let Gwen ride next to him in the front of the carriage. We picked up extra stuff for the beach, the few things they didn't have at Shaw's Wal-Mart didn't have either (mother fucker), but they DID have vacuum bags. But before we even got there, Holden had a blow out. And it was RANK. I had to pick up a small package of diapers and wipes b/c I was trying to be quick and efficient and get in and out but his intestines obviously had other plans. I walk into the bathroom only to find that the changing center thingie was broken. Oh yeah, now I remember... it's been broken for forever. What the FUCK?!?! I had only one option: hope the men's room had one too. YAY! It did! While we were in there I tried to keep Gwen from touching anything or from looking around. I must have told her to turn around and stare at the wall 5 times. Poor Holden had red balls and busted up ass cheeks and I had no Desitin. :-( Of course, Gwen would take that opportunity to ask me, "What is that by Holden's penis?" "Honey, those are his balls. And I don't think the men in hear want to hear this conversation." "What are balls? Why does Holden have balls? Bouncy balls?" Ugh. The rest of the trip was uneventful save for the fact that they no longer sell Carvel cakes so I am fucked and totally need to go out tomorrow and find an ice cream cake. Gah! One thing after another!! Oh well. It could always be worse. I did get my vacuum bags though, and we're ready for our beach outing on Tuesday! Hooray! :D

Much love,
